CMN Wins CSGCT Partner Award and Leads Gene Editing Sessions in Beijing

On 20 September 2026, CMN founder Jens-Ole Bock moderated two sessions at the Annual Meeting of the Chinese Society of Cell & Gene Therapy (CSGCT) in Beijing. The sessions brought together researchers, GCT socities, companies and legal experts from China, Europe, Australia and the USA.
Forum 4: Global gene editing development and clinical translation
In the afternoon, Bock led Forum 4, Latest Advances and Challenges in Global Gene Editing Development and Clinical Translation. More than 150 people attended. The talks covered next-generation editing tools, in vivo delivery, safety assessment and clinical applications in rare disease and cell therapy:
- Mathew Pletcher, CSO, Arbor Biotechnologies, USA - Next-Generation Gene Editing
- Bing Du, CSO, BRL Medicine, China - Gene Editing and Cell Therapy: From Fundamental Research to Translational Medicine
- Yujia Cai, Founder and CEO, BDgene, China - Virus-like Particle (VLP)-based Delivery Platforms for In Vivo Gene Editing Therapies
- José Carlos Segovia Sanz, CIEMAT, Spain - Towards Next-Generation Gene Therapy: Full Gene Replacement and Non-Genotoxic Conditioning
- Samantha Ginn, President, Australasian Gene and Cell Therapy Society, Australia - Gene Editing in the Liver for Urea Cycle Disorders
- Cecilia Jiménez-Mallebrera, Research Director, Barcelona Children's Hospital Sant Joan de Déu, and Vice Chair, European Genomic Medicine Consortium (EGMEDC), Spain - Application and Challenges of Gene Editing for Ultra-rare Muscular Dystrophies
- Victor Yu, Broken String Biosciences, China - Genome-wide DNA Break Mapping In-House, In Days
- Avencia Sanchez-Mejias, CEO, Integra Therapeutics, Spain - FICAT: Precise Gene Writing System for Next-Generation CAR-T Cell Therapy Production
Panel: Scaling in vivo CRISPR therapies to patients
Later that day, Bock moderated a panel on what it will take to bring in vivo CRISPR medicines to more patients. The panellists were:
- Yongzhong Wang, Founder, Chairman and CEO, AccurEdit Therapeutics, China
- José Carlos Segovia Sanz, CIEMAT, Spain
- Rui Tian, CTO, GeneRulor, China
- Ulrich Storz, Patent Attorney, Co-founder and Senior Partner, Michalski · Hüttermann & Partner, Germany
- Xiaoyu Liang, Co-founder and CTO, Edibeck Therapeutics, China
The panel discussed the current state of delivery, safety and intellectual property. It also looked at what is still needed to scale in vivo CRISPR therapies from early clinical success to wider patient access.
CSGCT Ecosystem Co-creation Partner award
At the conference welcome dinner, CMN (CRISPR Medicine Media) received the official CSGCT Ecosystem Co-creation Partner award, together with Clincase and Judy Lux.
As a strategic partner of CSGCT, CMN works to connect the Chinese and international gene editing communities in this fast-growing field. More events, articles and collaborations between the two communities are planned, so stay tuned!
