Professor Waseem Qasim, of University College London and Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health, helps run early-phase clinical trials using the most advanced gene editing techniques. In recent years his group has begun using techniques including CRISPR, base editing, and others to improve CAR T-cell therapies, used to treat children with various forms of leukaemia.
