The Kaulich Lab for ‘Perturbation Genetics’ of Prof. Dr. Manuel Kaulich at the Institute of Biochemistry II, Gustav Embden Center of Biochemistry, Department of Medicine of the Goethe-University Frankfurt, Germany, is looking for a

Research Associate (PostDoc)

to work on projects related to

Computational Perturbation Genomics (PERTomics).

Activities and responsibilities - Based on our 3Cs technology (PMID: 30838976, 33654707), we apply single and combinatorial CRISPR libraries to perform large-scale perturbation genomics experiments to reveal genetic interactions in the context of genome stability and tumorigenesis. Inferring gene function and gene-gene relationships from these paired gene perturbations requires innovative computational approaches - that’s why we seek you!

We seek – You are an ambitious and highly motivated team player with a strong interest in the synergy between applied and computational biology to develop innovative computational and experimental approaches to identify and understand functional relationships between genes in human health and disease. You are about to finish your PhD in topics related to data science, bioinformatics, applied mathematics, or a similar area and have excellent programming skills. You have a strong interest in academic research, the ability to think analytically, plus being a team-oriented personality with good communication skills. Prior experience with functional genomics using CRISPR or NGS data and/or biological network analyses, or deep/machine learning applications is advantageous but not required. Excellent written and spoken English is expected.

We offer – A highly creative, dedicated, and collaborative team with the spirit to make a change and move the boundaries of science and technology. A versatile workplace in a cutting-edge German university research institute, consisting of 11 working groups, spread across 3 locations of the Goethe University, tariff-compliant remuneration according to German TV-G-U and the possibility of using the regional LandesTicket (train ticket) for employees of the state of Hessen.

The university advocates equal rights for women and men and therefore urges women to apply. Handicapped candidates are given preferential treatment with equal personal and professional qualifications.

Please send your application documents, including a cover letter, your CV, and university certificates as a single electronic application (PDF file) to kaulich@em.uni-frankfurt.de. Please do not send original documents as these will not be returned.

Travel and application costs are not reimbursed.
