Speaker
Prof. Marc Güell, Professor at Universidad Pompeu Fabra, Cofounder and Scientific Head of Integra Therapeutics, Spain
Marc Güell is an ICREA Research Professor at Pompeu Fabra University, leading the Translational Synthetic Biology Lab. He focuses on gene editing for therapeutic applications, with expertise in mammalian genome engineering and skin microbiome engineering. In 2020, he co-founded Integra Therapeutics with Dr. Avencia Sánchez-Mejías to transfer the genetic writing technology, Find and cut-and-transfer (FiCAT), developed in his laboratory. This innovative technology utilizes modified CRISPR-Cas9 proteins and the PiggyBac transposase to direct the insertion of DNA fragments into the genome. In October 2022, Dr. Güell received the National Award for Young Researchers in the field of technology transfer, awarded by the Ministry of Science and Innovation of Spain. Last November 2023, he was awarded an ERC Consolidator grant.
Marc is a member of CA21113 Working Groups 2 and 3!
