Quantum-Guided Gene Editing in a Life-Saving Bone Marrow Transplant: A Highlight from CRISPRMED25
One of the most technically notable presentations at the 2nd Annual CRISPR* Medicine 2025 Conference (CRISPRMED25) in Copenhagen was a poster titled “Quantum-Enhanced Precision and Real-Time Monitoring of Prime Editing in Bone Marrow Transplantation for AML,” led by Dr. Sunil Joshi, Founder and CEO of Quantum Immunogenix – A Third Eye Network INC (USA).
This poster detailed a real-world case in which gene-editing and quantum-sensing technologies were used to enable a successful bone marrow transplant in a highly complex clinical scenario. The patient involved was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and urgently required a bone marrow transplant. However, the only available HLA-compatible donor had sickle cell disease—a condition that introduces significant genetic risk to the transplant.
To overcome this, the research team employed Prime Editing to correct the β-globin gene mutation responsible for sickle cell anemia in the donor’s hematopoietic stem cells.
